FMI - The Food Industry Association has rescheduled its recently canceled signature event, Midwinter Executive Conference, after taking a pause due to the heightened challenges associated with the Omicron variant, per the organization.

The Arlington, Va.-based association announced that “with utmost consideration being given to our community and the nation’s food supply chain,” FMI Midwinter will take place in-person at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, March 28-31.

During those same dates, PLMA will be hosting its virtual PLMA Global trade show connecting buyers and retailers in private label.

FMI President and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin said: “While we paused our Midwinter event plans with purpose and patience, our members have urged us to hit ‘play’ for our first in-person gathering in more than two years. We look forward to hosting this forum for high-impact industry dialog at the conclusion of the first quarter 2022.”

FMI will continue to introduce more news around the event in the coming weeks, including the announcement of Dana M. Peterson, chief economist and center leader of economy, strategy and finance at The Conference Board, will keynote and address the economic trends to watch in the year ahead.

Registration and housing information will be available at 6 a.m. EST on Friday, Jan. 21, via the Midwinter website

Similarly, FMI, which works with The North American Meat Institute (NAMI) for its Annual Meat Conference, canceled that event, but did not provide an update if it were going to reschedule. NAMI and FMI, in partnership with Sealed Air, will host a virtual discussion series regarding The Power of Meat analysis. The kickoff to this three-part series will be hosted beginning Feb. 7. Registration information will be available via the conference website and in a follow-up communication to previously registered attendees. The analysis will also be available for free to members of our respective organizations and previously registered attendees.
