Loblaw launches Presidents Choice gluten-free line

Loblaw Companies Ltd., Brampton, Ontario, said it launched eight Presidents Choice gluten-free products that are fully certified by the Canadian Celiac Associations Gluten-Free Certification Program (GFCP). The store brand products are the first private label items in Canada to meet the requirements for certification and are eligible to display the GFCP trademark of the Canadian Celiac Association.

Priced at $5.99 each, the President’s Choice gluten-free products can be found in the bakery of select Loblaw banner grocery stores in Ontario — Loblaws, Loblaw great food, Fortinos, Zehrs Markets, Zehrs Great Food, Your Independent Grocer, valu-mart and Real Canadian Superstore, the retailer said. Products include brownies, muffins, loaf cakes and cookies.

"The number of Canadians diagnosed with Celiac disease, experiencing sensitivities to gluten, or choosing to follow a gluten-free diet is increasing, and we are pleased to be able to offer Presidents Choice gluten free products certified by the trusted GFCP trademark," said Ian Gordon, senior vice-president, Loblaw Brands, Loblaw Companies Ltd.
