Lidl continues working to expand its presence across New York City’s five boroughs as the grocery store has signed a lease for a new store in Brooklyn.

According to a report from Patch, the 30,000 square foot store will be located on Fulton Street near Bond Street. The property at that location is currently home to an Express Factory Outlet, Chase Bank and Burlington.

Another Lidl store is in the works and is expected to be open in Crown Heights by the end of 2024. This location at 1730 Bedford Avenue will be home to a 105,000-square foot building and include a 33,000 square foot Lidl supermarket.

The new Brooklyn stores continue a trend from the discount grocer to expand its footprint across the New York City metropolitan area. In early 2023, plans for a 23,000 square foot ground-floor store in the Chelsea section of Manhattan were revealed. The targeted opened date for the store is 2026.

In January, Lidl opened a new store at the Queens Place Mall in the Elmhurst section of Queens. The 35,000-square foot store opened on January 23. Its retail neighbors include Target, Best Buy, and Macy’s Backstage.

A separate report from Patch indicated Lidl was exploring options to open its first store in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in the community of Warminster. Located North of Philadelphia, the report cited local officials who said the grocer is weighing its options in developing land at the corner of Street and Norristown roads.

Back in 2016, Lidl was looking to build a new store on property that previously housed a Pathmark. Those plans fell through when the grocer was unable to secure needed variances.
