Hy-Vee’s brisk expansion to continue in Twin Cities area

9/17/2018

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee supermarkets are moving into the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area at a brisk pace, the company says, as it expects to be on track with a dozen new supermarkets there by the end of next year.

Minnesota stores in the towns of New Hope, Oakdale, Eagan, Lakeville, Cottage Grove, Brooklyn Park, Savage and Shakopee opened beginning in 2015, and will be joined by a store in Robbinsdale soon, according to the company’s website. The store will feature more than 91,500 square feet of grocery, shopping and dining experiences, including a Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh Express for on-the-go offerings. Other areas where Hy-Vee stores are slated to open include Plymouth, Spring Lake Park and possibly Blaine, if all goes according to plan.

The retailer  currently owns more than 245 retail stores across eight Midwestern states, with sales of $10 billion annually.

"We are thrilled to have Hy-Vee," said Dan Buchholtz, an administrator of Spring Lake Park, Minn., in a news brief in the Duluth News Tribune. “I think Hy-Vee is being heartily welcomed wherever they go.”
