Hy-Vee plans more Fast & Fresh convenience stores

The Des Moines Register reported yesterday that Hy-Vee plans to open a Fast & Fresh convenience store in Waukee, Iowa, in addition to those that will open in the Iowa cities of Altoona, Davenport, Des Moines and West Des Moines. The 10,000-square-foot mini-grocery store in Waukee will include a gas station.

The new concept, which will eventually expand to all eight states in which West Des Moines-based Hy-Vee does business, focuses more on fresh food than the chain’s other convenience stores. Besides Iowa, Hy-Vee operates grocery and convenience stores in Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
