Hy-Vee names data head

Jason Buhrow will serve as chief data officer, in charge of the retailer’s data strategy and visualization.

Hy-Vee has appointed Jason Buhrow to be its chief data officer, overseeing the grocer’s data strategy that includes data analysis, visualization and enterprise-wide data science.

Buhrow’s faced with managing the data strategy for the $11 billion West Des Moines, Iowa-based retailer. He comes to the company after serving as business technology vice president for FBL Financial Group and served in technology leadership positions at RSM US and Berkley Technology Service.

“We are excited to welcome Jason to the Hy-Vee family, and are confident that his extensive experience in information management and strategy will enable Hy-Vee to continue delivering amazing customer experiences by leveraging data and analytics,” said Randy Edeker, chairman of the board, CEO and president of Hy-Vee. 

The grocer serves eight states across the Midwest, totaling around 275 stores.
