Home retailer At Home has appointed retail veteran Jeff Evans as its next president and chief merchandising officer, who will officially assume the role on June 19.

Evans is a senior merchandising leader that brings 32 years of experience in managing businesses across different retail formats including department stores, warehouse clubs and mass retailers. Prior to joining At Home, Evans was EVP, Entertainment, Toys and Seasonal for Walmart U.S., where he managed the company’s largest omnichannel general merchandise business.

He served in leadership roles at Walmart U.S. and Sam’s Club for 15 years in general merchandising, omnichannel, home and apparel divisions.

“We’re thrilled to have Jeff join the At Home team at a pivotal point in our company’s transformation,” said Lee Bird, chairman & CEO of At Home. “His experience leading at the highest-ranked Fortune 100 company will bring a new level of excellence to our business. He is a collaborative leader that has delivered consistent results by building high performing teams, being customer and data focused and driving digital transformation.”

Earlier this year, Bird spoke with Store Brands about At Home’s future strategy relating to its private label assortment of home goods and the role they play for consumers.

“At Home is uniquely situated to continue to grow by delivering incredible customer value in the home décor space,” said Evans. “I am very excited to join Lee and the At Home team to help drive the business strategy and participate in fueling future growth by identifying and maximizing opportunities to deliver results.”

Headquartered in Plano, Texas, At Home currently operates 263 stores in 40 states.
