H-E-B is one of three grocery retailers listed among Glassdoor's top 100 workplaces..
In a list led by Facebook and dominated by other technology as well as investment firms, three grocery retailers that emphasize private brands rank in the top 100 of “2018 Best Places to Work: Employees’ Choice,” a national compilation by Mill Valley, Calif.-based Glassdoor, a job recruiting company that posts employees’ reviews of employers on its website.
San Antonio, Texas-headquartered H-E-B ranked No. 20 on the list, ahead of all other food retailers. “Fun culture. Latest tech. Leaders [and] company value each person,” stated one employee review. “You are a name, not a number.”
Second among grocery retailers, Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans Food Markets came in 49th on the diverse list. “Fantastic employer,” emphasized a current employee. “Great work environment, decent pay and benefits for retail work.”
The only other supermarket chain on the list, Monrovia, Calif.-based Trader Joe’s, ranked 70th. With approximately 90 percent of its SKUs private brand items, Trader Joe’s has a near cult following among consumers. “Amazing products and a huge emphasis on top-notch customer service,” wrote a current Trader Joe’s employee on Glassdoor’s website.
