Health and wellness retailer GNC has launched a new private brand energy drink called Mad Pony that the company says is made with a nature-based extract called NeuroFactor that is a neuroprotein for brain health, 200 mg of caffeine and no sugars.

GNC Holdings, Pittsburgh, will sell the drink exclusively in GNC retail stores and on GNC.com. It comes in three flavors: Cherry Berry, Orange Mango and Watermelon. The drinks are in 16-ounce cans.

GNC is promoting the new drinks with a TikTok campaign called the #BuckHardChallenge, asking users on the social platform to dance while drinking a Mad Pony set to the song “I Want a Pony” by Krause. Similarly, they want fans to engage with the drink over Instagram, YouTube and Twitter. GNC will reward some fans who post trending videos.

Ryan Ostrom, Chief Brand Officer, GNC Holdings, Inc., said the company used its expertise in nutritional science and an established supply chain of quality ingredient sources to create the drink. “Mad Pony is a fun new brand that encourages people to live well and embrace who they are, and not follow someone else's rules. We like to call it, living the 'Get Mad. Buck Hard.' lifestyle – go wild, be eccentric and be proud."

To exemplify this, the company created a YouTube video of Mad Pony drinkers running through the streets with horse masks on.

GNC has 5,900 locations in the Unites States and 2,000 store-within-store locations inside Rite Aid stores.
