Fresh & Easy wins 29 Medals in international wine competition

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market said it won 29 medals at the 74th annual Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition. Almost 3,200 wines from around the world were entered into the competition. An almost 100-member panel consisting of international judges tasted the entries in May.

fresh&easy Pebble Bay Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand was awarded 93 points, as well as a Gold Medal and Best in Class distinction, the El Segundo, Calif.-based retailer said. Some of the newest fresh&easy exclusive wines, introduced this year, also took home medals. Cerro Chalten Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from Argentina and Chile all received silver medals. The retailer’s new Yabber Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay from Australia also received silver medals.

Normally $6.99 each, the Cerro Chalten and Yabber wines are now 30 percent off through September 3, making these award-winning wines even more affordable for customers, Fresh & Easy said. The top-selling Big Kahuna wines, which retail for only $1.99 each, also took home four medals, further proving great wine doesn’t have to be expensive.

“Having strong partnerships with wineries around the world helps us create high-quality award-winning wines that can be offered at incredible prices,” said Richard Wherry, category manager of wine and beer for Fresh & Easy. “We’re happy these partnerships have led to deliciously affordable wines, popular with both customers and professional judges.”

More than 60 of its 200 wines offered are exclusive to Fresh & Easy. These exclusive wines have earned Fresh & Easy a total of 625 medals and accolades from acclaimed international wine competitions, the retailer said.
