U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker presented The Fremont Co., Fremont, Ohio, with The President’s “E” Award for Excellence in Exporting at a May 18 Department of Commerce ceremony in Washington, D.C. The President’s “E” Award is the highest recognition awarded to U.S. companies for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports, The Fremont Co. said.
The Fremont Company is an exporter of ketchup and barbecue sauces. Along with its Mississippi brand barbecue sauce sold in Europe, the company manufacturers private brand condiments for major brands and retailers domestically and worldwide.
“The Fremont Co. is honored to be one of the 64 U.S. manufacturers to receive an “E” Award this year and proud to be one of only two food manufacturers to receive this prestigious distinction," said Chris Smith, president of The Fremont Co. "Our export business is a critical component of our overall business structure and enables our company to provide local jobs, and brings overseas revenue into the U.S. economy.”
U.S. companies are nominated for the “E” Awards through the Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service office network, located within the department’s International Trade Administration, with offices in 108 U.S. cities and more than 70 countries, The Fremont Co. said.
