FoodMaxx is expanding its presence in Northern California with the opening of the grocer’s first location in the city of Carmichael.

Located at 4708 Manzanita Avenue, the retailer announced $2,000 in community donations and new partnerships with local schools and nonprofit groups that support education, health and wellness initiatives and address food insecurity.

According to the company, the new store will provide donations to several local organizations including the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, the Thomas Kelly Elementary School after school program, and the Del Campo High School boys and girls basketball program.

“Supporting the residents of Carmichael and nearby neighborhoods is an essential part of what FoodMaxx strives for and we are excited to introduce the FoodMaxx value-format to this community,” said Paul Gossett, vice president & general manager for FoodMaxx at The Save Mart Companies. “With today’s shoppers facing ever-tighter budgets, our priority is to provide this community with the very best values, day in and day out, without sacrificing quality.”

To keep the celebration going, on Saturday, Aug. 5, FoodMaxx will offer the first 300 customers a “mystery” gift card valued between $10 and $100.

Touting itself as a non-conventional grocery store, FoodMaxx buys in bulk and stocks shelves directly from delivery trucks. This, combined with other initiatives allows the grocer to offer its shoppers budget-friendly solutions.

Currently, FoodMaxx has 54 locations throughout the Bay Area and Central Valley of California.
