End of the line for greeting cards?

CVS says an internal analysis showed that greeting cards were not selling well and that the company could cut back in the category.

CVS and Walmart are planning on reducing the amount of space they will allot to greeting cards and give the space to products that bring in more in-store revenue, according to USA Today.

Kevin Hourican, president of CVS Pharmacy, told USA Today the company plans to dedicate more space to health care products. CVS says an internal analysis showed that greeting cards were not selling well and that the company could cut back in the category.  

In a conference call earlier this month, Walmart’s U.S. President and CEO Greg Foran also questioned the amount of space its stores dedicate to greeting cards.
