Costco Sales Spring Up In March

The warehouse club reported strong comparable store gains across the company with Easter helping boost revenue.

March proved to be a busy month at Costco as sales for the year’s third month were buoyed in part by the shift of the Easter holiday.

Total company sales for the month were $23.48 billion, an increase of 9.4% from the comparable period the previous year. Company-wide comparable store sales (without the impact of gasoline) were up 7.5%. Officials with Costco said the Easter shift positively impacted total and comparable sales by approximately 0.5%.

By division, comparable store sales (without the impact of gasoline) in the U.S. were up 7.4%, up 7.3% in Canada, and 8.4% in Other International. E-commerce comparable sales were up 28%.

Net sales for the first 31 weeks of the current fiscal year were $146.64 billion, an increase of 6.4% from the comparable period the prior year.
