Bob’s Discount Furniture is no stranger to offbeat commercials starring its Little Bob animated character, and the latest ad to support its own brand of Bob-O-Pedic mattresses keeps up the strange.

The ad will run on TV, digital, transit screens and be accompanied by a radio spot. In the ad, a consumer trying out a Bob-O-Pedic mattress is transported to a puppet-like dream world with animated clouds and puppet versions of herself and Little Bob. The company says it’s the “comfier” version of yourself and the dream world is called “Bobopedia.”

The spot comes with a catchy jingle to emphasize the service of the store.

Bob’s Discount Furniture, based in Manchester, Conn., operates 126 stores in 20 states and is the 11th largest furniture chain in the U.S. The company said it will be opening 20 more stores in 2020 such new markets as Phoenix, Cincinnati and Cleveland, with additional stores planned for its existing regions in southern California, the Midwest and New England.

The puppets in the ad are reminiscent of the Jim Henson world and Henson-trained puppeteers were used during then commercial, the company said. The TV ad was produced by Bob’s Discount Furniture’s internal agency, LB&Co, with production support from Parsley Productions. HAVAS Boston handled the planning and bought the media.

The TV ad is being supported through Bob’s social media channels, too.
