On Nov. 16, a group of protesters, including representatives of Conservation Voters for Idaho (CVI), gathered with signs in front of Albertsons Companies’ Boise, Idaho, headquarters to demand an end to the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in the retailer’s store brand canned goods.
The protesters delivered a petition with 125,000 signatures calling on the chain to end its use of BPA in food packaging, according to an article posted Nov. 17 on the website of SaferChemicals.org.
“We realize that Albertsons has made efforts to reduce the use of BPA in the food it sells, but we believe it should do a lot more,” CVI Deputy Director Kate Thorpe was quoted as saying.
