Annual C&S Golf Outing Raises Money for Kids’ Charities
C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., Keene, N.H., said its 28th annual C&S Charities “Tee Up For Kids” golf tournament, held in September, generated a record-breaking $1.3 million in donations to five nonprofit organizations devoted to pediatric cancer and childhood hunger issues. In total, 985 golfers hit the courses this year. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the following organizations that support children:
- Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth, Lebanon, N.H. — $370,000 for care and treatment of children in the pediatric oncology unit
- Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Ashford, Conn. — $120,000 for camperships
- Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston — $170,000 for pediatric cancer research
- Feeding America, Chicago — $320,000 for the national BackPack Program
- Share Our Strength, Washington, D.C. — $320,000 for the No Kid Hungry campaign
C&S said more than 250 companies sponsored the tournament.
“The philanthropic focus is on kids who are battling cancer and kids who are facing food insecurity,” said Rick Cohen, chairman and CEO of C&S Wholesale Grocers.
