Amazon Prime Big Deal Days Sets Company October Sales Record

Technology played a major role during the two-day sales event in which Prime members globally saved more than $1 billion, according to the company.

Amazon Prime members saved more than $1 billion during its recent two-day sales event.

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days was its biggest October shopping event in company history, according to the e-tailer, with Prime members globally saving more than $1 billion on various sale items. 

Shoppers were able to access several new Amazon shopping features including Rufus, a generative AI-powered conversational shopping assistant that helped millions of customers in the U.S. answer questions on a variety of shopping needs and products in the Amazon store.

Additionally, Amazon said shoppers also used Inspire, the in-app mobile experience to help them discover ideas and products in a personalized feed, and Amazon Lens, the visual shopping tool that identifies objects and finds similar items on Amazon.

Other technology in use includes AI Shopping Guides, which is designed to take the guesswork out of gift shopping, offering tailored content to help customers learn about different product types, understand key features and terminology, and identify top brands and customer favorites.

"Our 2024 Prime Big Deal Days event marked a strong start to the holiday shopping season, with record-breaking sales and participation from Prime members worldwide,” said Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores. “This is just the start of great deals from Amazon over the holiday shopping season, paired with fast, free delivery for Prime members to help them check items off their gift lists."

With Prime Big Deal Days in the rearview mirror, upcoming Amazon sales including its 4th annual Holiday Beauty Haul. Scheduled from October 31 to November 3, the event will feature thousands of curated deals and gift sets on a range of beauty products. And through Halloween, shoppers can save 10% on select today when spending $25 or more. 

Amazon officials also noted additional sale events are planned ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
