Alphia taps former Chewy executive

Private brand pet food manufacturer added the top talent to bolster its supply chain and procurement operations.

Alphia, a leading U.S. private label manufacturer of premium pet food, has added talent to its supply chain team, hiring a senior executive in own brand sourcing at Chewy. warehousing, transportation and distribution services.

The Denver-based company has named Cindy Yakich to be its chief procurement officer, overseeing the procurement teams for Alphia and Lani, the ingredient milling company for Alphia, promoting procurement strategies and managing supplier relationships to provide ongoing value to customers.

The company said the move will help Alphia take on pandemic challenges that have been impacting the industry.

"Investing in industry leading talent in procurement and supply chain is one of the ways we're strengthening our commitment to our customer's success, our efficiencies in the supply chain, and our ability to scale for the future," said David McLain, CEO of Alphia.

Yakich comes to the company from Chewy, where she served as the senior director of proprietary brands sourcing and R&D for consumables and healthcare. Before working with the e-commerce pet giant, Yakich held supply chain and procurement roles with The J.M. Smucker Company, Big Heart Pet, Del Monte and Heinz.
