Aldi UK is looking to grow over the next two years, announcing an investment of 1.3 billion pounds toward building 100 new stores in 2020 and 1,200 by 2025, upgrading current locations, and renovating distribution centers.

The company is celebrating 30 years in the area and has plans to create 4,000 new jobs next year, adding to the 3,000 permanent roles created in 2020.

The company reported an increase in sales of 8.3% in 2019 and said Aldi has more than 18 million shoppers today.

Part of the store upgrades will be a continued push for its Project Fresh initiative, and other advancements will be larger distribution centers, and an expansion of its click-and-collect service.

“For over 30 years, our success has been driven by the ever-increasing number of shoppers who put their trust in Aldi every time they shop with us,” said Giles Hurley, CEO of Aldi U.K.  “This is what enables us to keep investing in Britain – in our products, our prices, our people and in the communities we serve.”

Hurley added a commitment to maintain value for its shoppers. “With the UK’s economic outlook increasingly uncertain, families are more concerned about their grocery bills than ever,” he said. “We’ve seen before that our customers need us most in times of financial hardship, which is why our commitment to remain Britain’s lowest-priced supermarket is more important than ever.”
