Aldi Plans Five New Store Opening

The discount grocer has an additional 31 stores across several states in the works

Aldi will open five new stores the week before and the week after Labor Day.

Aldi will open a total of five new stores before and after the Labor Day holiday weekend as the discount grocer continues with its expansion plans.

On Aug. 28, the Batavia, Illinois-based retailer will open three new stores and add two more on Sept. 5. The quintet are among 36 locations Aldi is working to open in the coming weeks. Florida, with 20 new stores planned, continues to be a focal point for Aldi.

Other states where the grocer will expand its presence include Alabama (three stores), Kentucky (one store), Louisiana (three stores), Maryland (two stores), Mississippi (three stores), North Carolina (one store), New York (one store) and Pennsylvania (two stores).

Upcoming openings include:

August 28 

  • 8775 Old Kings Road, Jacksonville, Florida
  • 535 Whittington Drive, Madisonville, Kentucky
  • 147 Ronkonkoma Ave., Lake Ronkonkoma, New York

September 4 

  • 13016 Race Track Road, Tampa, Florida
  • 9609 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, North Carolina

Aldi also recently offered a glimpse into its 2026 expansion plans with the recent revelation of a new store in New York City’s Times Square. Scheduled to open in 2026, the 25,000-square-foot store will be located on 42nd Street as part of a new luxury residential building known as The Ellery.

“Opening our first store in the heart of Manhattan will be a significant milestone for Aldi as we continue to expand access to affordable, quality groceries in the most in-demand locations across the country,” said Chris Daniels, regional vice president with Aldi. “This location will allow us to provide New Yorkers with a simpler, quicker and more enjoyable shopping experience with great products at the lowest prices, every day.”
