Aldi Opens New Stores in California, Indiana

The discount grocer is welcoming a new store in Santa Clarita while opening a remodeled location in Gary.

Aldi's new store in Santa Clarita will be the grocer's first in the California community.

Communities in California and Indiana are the latest to be home to Aldi’s expansion efforts as the discount grocer will open new stores in Santa Clarita (Calif.) and Gary (Ind.).

The Santa Clarita location will officially open on Thursday, October 12, at 8 a.m. local time and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The renovated Gary store will open the same day at 8:30 a.m. local time and be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

The first 100 customers at each grand opening will receive a gift bag filled with a sampling of Aldi Fan Favorites products and a gift card as part of the Aldi Golden Ticket gift card giveaway program. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a $500 Aldi gift card during the grand opening weekend from October 12 through October 15.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier, and we’ve been voted the price leader for six years running,” said Tom Cindel, Moreno Valley Group director of Operations and Logistics for ALDI. “We’re excited to open our first Aldi store in Santa Clarita and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”

Heather McCarthy, Valparaiso regional vice president for Aldi, which covers the Gary community, said, “We have invested in remodeling our stores to ensure they are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier. With the updated Gary store, shoppers will notice a new look with more fresh and convenient items at the reliably low prices Aldi fans rave about.”
