One of the more inspiring sessions at the Private Label Manufacturers Association’s Private Label Trade Show this past November was a morning talk by Jonathan Mayes, senior vice president of external affairs and chief diversity officer at Albertsons Cos. Mayes discussed the importance for — and how to bring — more diversity and diverse viewpoints into an organization.
He spoke during a breakfast hosted by the organization Women Impacting Storebrand Excellence (WISE), who is bringing Mayes back for a webinar on Feb. 19. To register for the webinar, go here.
Titled “8 Types of Unconscious Bias and How to Fight Them,” Mayes will help those dialing in to identify common types of bias, how various types of bias can impede growth, and he’ll offer up practical tips on how to fight bias in the workplace.
WISE says the event will challenge attendees who likely have seen bias happen at work, perhaps been on the receiving end of it, or who are generally aware that bias can limit career advancement, stifle organizational growth, and diminish a company’s image. But, the organization asks, could an attendee spot bias and fight it before it causes issues? This session tackles how.
