Accel Inc. has a new president. The private label manufacturer and packaging company in the personal care, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, and medical industries has named Steve Light to the position.
Light is an investor partner and succeeds David Abraham, who now serves as the company’s chief executive officer. Tara Abraham, the previous CEO, will serve as the company’s chairwoman.
Light comes from Cardinal Health, where he was vice president of consumer health, and before that he worked at Meijer as its senior executive of merchandise operations, managing the retailer’s private brands, product development, global sourcing, pricing, inventory management and more. He also has spent time with Kmart, Sears, Floor & Decor and Arthur Anderson.
At Accel, Light will oversee new business development, sales and customer service, strategy, global sourcing, e-commerce and quality assurance.
By adding Light, the company said it is positioned to focus on growing its core business as well as launching its own wellness and self-care brand called Spa-Dà, and to support the venture initiatives Accel is partnering in through its new subsidiary, Capax.
“I’m thrilled to be a partner with Tara and David due to their strong 25 years in business and being poised for accelerated growth,” said Light. “They have an incredible track record of investing in the community through economic development and job creation. They contribute to charities and initiatives that make our community stronger, and I fully back their commitment to diversity and inclusion.”
