7-Eleven gets a jump on pumpkin items

7-Eleven has commenced pumpkin-flavor season. Next month, the retailer will be rolling out a line of pumpkin-inspired items under its 7-Select brand and in the coffee bar.

Some of the foods and candies shoppers can expect to see include 7-Select pumpkin cheesecake snack pies, a special Halloween chocolate bar with red caramel, dark chocolate brownie and pumpkin spice, and 7-Select Gummi Pumpkin candies. The items will be joined by other items in the foodservice area like pumpkin-flavored spice sandwich cookies, cream cheese filled pumpkin spice muffins, and its signature pumpkin-flavored coffee.

Also, returning to some locations, a pumpkin spice latte will be available, a blend of warm, autumn spices including cinnamon, ginger, anise and clove with creamy pumpkin flavor. Coffee customers can create a personalized pumpkin spice beverage, too, with a a pump or two of chocolate sauce found on the hot beverage bar to make it a mocha, and International Delight pumpkin spice creamer is also available.

“Pumpkin Spice is easily our most successful flavored hot beverage, and we didn’t want to make our coffee customers wait any longer — especially in 2020,” said 7‑Eleven senior product director for proprietary beverages Jacob Barnes. “People really need some feel-good moments right now and our rich Pumpkin Spice provides just that. With 7‑Eleven’s value pricing on beverages, pumpkin spice-lovers can enjoy three cups — morning, noon and night — for about the same price they’d pay for just one latte at a coffeehouse or restaurant. Add a fresh-made apple fritter to your favorite pumpkin drink for just a dollar more. That’s a rich way to start any morning.”

While not pumpkin-flavored, 7-Eleven is also revamping its popular apple fritters with a new proprietary recipe in the fall that uses yeast donut mix as a base, a flavorful, cinnamon-forward filling, sweet glaze, and a lot of apples. The fruit makes up a quarter of the ingredients in each fritter.
