7-Eleven adds to its convenience offerings with voice ordering

11/21/2019

Consumers can now get a Slurpee, a Big Bite hot dog and more from 7-Eleven delivered directly to their homes in 30 minutes or less via voice ordering. The move is another in 7-Eleven’s focus on convenience, and getting fresh foods and items to shoppers on the go, at home or wherever they want it.

The Irving, Texas-based chain announced that users of the 7NOW delivery app on their mobile devices can sync it up to the Google Home and Amazon Echo devices to yell out an order and get it sent: “Hey, Alexa! I want a Slurpee, open 7NOW.”

Just last week 7-Eleven rolled out new slider sandwiches in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, focusing on hot, ready-to-serve meals for consumers on-the-go. The chain is also focusing on digital. The last two years has seen the rollout of the 7NOW delivery app, mobile checkout options in select stores, mobile payment (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay), augmented reality-based experiences inside the app and store, in-store package pickup with Amazon Lockers and more.

For the delivery, no minimum order is required and the option is available 24/7. Since the introduction of delivery, the company has executed more than a million deliveries in 34 major metropolitan areas and more that 200 cities, the company said.
