Whole Foods and Instacart part ways

Whole Foods Market has officially parted ways with Instacart more than two years after Amazon acquired the grocer.

According to CNBC, Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods galvanized grocers to boost their e-commerce offerings. Many turned to Instacart.

Instacart co-founder and CEO Apoorva Mehta says the company derives most of its profit from partnerships with grocers across the country.

“Whole Foods was one of our first partners,” he told CNBC in an exclusive interview. “But over the last few years, pretty much every major grocer in North America has chosen Instacart as their partner.”
