Whole Foods to accept digital currency

Cryptocurrency is slowly making its way into the retail market as as acceptable payment method.

Cryptocurrency is finally making waves as an effective form of payment between consumers and retailers.

According to Fortune, Amazon-owned Whole Foods, Crate and Barrel, as well as Nordstrom are accepting Bitcoin and three other types of digital money. The payments are enabled through a partnership between Flexa, a payments startup, and Gemini, a digital currency company.

The payments work through linking to the digital scanners that big retailers use to accept phone-based payments, such as Apple Pay.
