Whole Foods’ 365 Everyday Value eggs now verified non-GMO

10/5/2016

Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market said that as of Oct. 1, all of its 365 Everyday Value eggs come from farms verified to use only non-GMO feed. The eggs are either USDA certified organic or Non-GMO Project-verified, the retailer stated, adding that all of the eggs sold in its stores have been cage-free since 2005.

Whole Foods Market said that in 2013, it became the first national grocer to set a deadline (2018) for GMO transparency in its U.S. and Canadian stores. Currently, Whole Foods offers more than 11,500 Non-GMO Project-verified products –– a threefold increase in three years, according to the retailer –– as well as more than 25,000 certified organic choices.
