Wegmans debuts organic spiral-sliced hams

On its official blog, Wegmans Food Markets Inc., Rochester, N.Y., said it introduced spiral-sliced hams under its Organic Food You Feel Good About line. The hams debuted in select stores beginning Nov. 15, in time for the holidays.

The company said it is committed to giving customers more organic options because it believes these products taste the way nature intended and are better for the earth. The hams are sourced from Pederson’s Natural Farms in Hamilton, Texas. The pork is USDA Certified Organic, which means the hogs were raised without the use of antibiotics or growth stimulants and were given only organic feed. Smoked naturally with hickory wood chips, the hams are uncured with no nitrites or nitrates.
