Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, reported that U.S. comp sales increased 4.5 percent, and U.S. e-commerce sales grew 40 percent in the second quarter when compared to the same period in 2017.

The Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer said in a press release the increase in comp sales was the strongest growth in more than 10 years.

Walmart reported total revenue of $128 billion for the quarter, an increase of $4.7 billion or 3 percent from 2017’s second quarter.

Walmart said its omni-channel saw significant progress with an expanded online assortment, including 1,100 popular new brands.

Grocery pickup is now in more than 1,800 locations, and the company is on track to reach about 40 percent of the U.S. population by year-end with grocery delivery.

Walmart has been ramping up its private brand offerings this year.
