Walmart recalls over 6,400 pounds of private label frozen meat
Bentonville, Ark.-based Walmart has to recall over 6,400 pounds of its private label frozen meat due to possible salmonella contamination.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA), the company’s producer of its Great Value frozen and fully cooked meat, George's Prepared Foods, announced that its products were accidentally shipped nationwide after a small group tested positive for salmonella. The company claims that all products were meant to be disposed of.
According to the USDA symptoms of salmonella present anywhere from 12 to 72 hours after eating a contaminated product. The most common symptoms include diarrhea, fever and cramps, which typically last up to a week.
