Walmart has recalled Great Value apple juice over concerns of higher than allowed arsenic levels.

Walmart is recalling more than 9,500 cases of apple juice sold under its Great Value private brand after tests by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found the juice to have arsenic levels above recommended levels.

The products were supplied by Refresco Beverages and sold in six-packs of 8-ounce bottles in PET plastic with the UPC 0-78742-29655-5 and a best-if-used-by date of December 28, 2024.

The FDA recall announcement noted the juice was sold in 25 states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, and West Virginia. The juice was also sold in Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

The FDA notice noted the arsenic level in the juice was at 13.2 parts per billion, which exceeds the agency’s guidance allowing for no more than 10 parts per billion.
