Walmart launches own brand furniture line

Walmart has launched MoDRN, an online furniture store brand. The Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer said it launched the brand online to satisfy the 35 percent increase in shoppers the past year to Walmart.com.

In 2018, Walmart, the nation’s largest grocer, said it focused on creating a specialty shopping experience online for shoppers. “This year, we’re focused on doubling down on growing our assortment, starting with high-quality, on-trend collections that can only be found within the Walmart e-commerce family,” said Anthony Soohoo, senior vice president and group general manager of home products for Walmart U.S. eCommerce. “We are unveiling MoDRN, an exclusive online brand for the modern home.”

Created for customers who embrace a modern aesthetic, MoDRN offers three collections — retro glam, refined industrial and Scandinavian minimal. Featuring nearly 650 items to cover every room in the house, MoDRN “provides the elevated look and feel that you would typically find at a specialty store, without the elevated price tag,” according to SooHoo.

The line incorporates velvet and performance leather upholstery fabrics, Carrara marble table tops, native and exotic veneers, hand-brushed metal and brass accents, and solid wood features in white oak and walnut.

Prices range from $700 to $899 for sofas, $599 to $649 for beds, $20 to $60 for barware, and $199 to $699 for indoor and outdoor dining tables and chairs.
