Walmart continues to invest in omnichannel initiatives, leveraging strengths in traditional retailing against innovations in online shopping, seamless experience and last-mile delivery.
As Amazon tries its hand at dominating the grocery industry, more traditional grocers are finding that investing in their omnichannel game is the best way to keep that from happening, according to Jim Dudelicek, editorial director of Progressive Grocer, Store Brands’ sister magazine.
Building on its investment in Whole Foods Market, Amazon appears to be doubling down on bricks-and-mortar, with reports that it intends to launch another grocery chain in the foreseeable future and is shopping around for a small regional group of stores.
Meanwhile, traditional giants such as Kroger and Walmart continue to invest in omnichannel initiatives, leveraging their strengths in traditional retailing against innovations in online shopping, seamless experience and last-mile delivery.
