Walmart Canada is expanding its presence in Alberta with the opening of its new Edmonton Kingsway Walmart Supercenter.

The first new Walmart store in the province since 2015, the new 149,000-square-foot Walmart location was a $10 million investment. The store, located at Edmonton’s Kingsway Mall, created more than 100 jobs and brings the total number of Walmart stores in Alberta to 61, along with four distribution centers.

“We are bringing the best of Walmart Canada to Kingsway Mall," said Derreck Cuschieri, VP of operations for western Canada at Walmart Canada. "This new location has more space, more products, more services and more options for our customers. Kingsway's close proximity to downtown Edmonton will help more people save money so they can live better. We're proud to be investing for growth in Edmonton while creating jobs for the community."

The new supercenter offers expansive international food items, Walmart Grocery Pickup and Walmart Grocery Delivery, and a Walmart Pharmacy. Licensees located inside the store include The UPS Store and Ultracuts. Other services include Walmart Photo Center, Walmart Wireless and Western Union.

"This new store is going to be a huge win for our customers," said store manager Aisan Khan. "Edmontonians will appreciate the wide assortment of fresh produce available and many international food options to serve this diverse community. The supercenter is more modern and spacious than the previous location. Our associates are thrilled with the move and we are very excited to serve our valued customers in central Edmonton."
