Walgreens raises tobacco purchasing age
Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens has joined the influx of retailers that are raising the minimum tobacco purchasing age to 21.
Several major chains are seeking steps to reduce tobacco use among teens. Camp Hill, Pa.-based Rite Aid and Bentonville, Ark.-based Walmart have already raised their age requirements to 21 while others like Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS have banned tobacco sales as a whole.
