The United Kingdom’s largest organic supermarket brand, Waitrose Duchy Organic, is adding an organic pinot grigio to its lineup. The Waitrose private brand now features its first bag-in-box wine.

The wine’s packaging will feature Waitrose Duchy Organic’s contemporary new look, unveiled last month by the retailer. The new look is meant to highlight the food, farming and causes that distinguish the brand.

“We’re excited to launch our Waitrose Duchy Organic wine,” said Marien Rodriguez, Waitrose wine buyer. “Our bag-in-box format, which is packaged in the UK, delivers the wine in a sustainable way,  minimising carbon emissions and once opened will keep fresher for longer than a bottle. It’s the perfect wine to serve with seafood dishes this summer.”

The wine, made from grapes grown in Italy’s southern Puglia region, contains notes of ripe peach, melon, pear and honeysuckle. The company said it possesses a freshness and zestiness with a tropical finish.

The Waitrose Duchy Organic Pinot Grigio 2020 is sold in a 2.25-l bag-in-box package and is priced at £19.99.
