With updated store layout, Giant Food shows it’s meeting consumer demands
Giant Food unveiled an updated store design at its new store in Olney, Md. With 40,270 square feet of selling space, the supermarket features a layout and décor designed to make navigating the space clear and simple.
The new Giant features a larger health and beauty department; enhanced hot food offerings, full gourmet cheese shop, sushi bar and expanded produce and natural food offerings. Additional features include a full-service pharmacy, Starbucks Café, free WiFi and a PNC Bank branch. The supermarket also offers self-checkout and self-scan options for shoppers.
“We have expanded our offerings across aisles and departments, creating a convenient, one-stop-shop for the community,” said Gordon Reid, president of Giant Food, which is based in Landover, Md., and operates 164 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
Giant Food is investing $175 million to expand and improve its store base during the next two years. The investment will cover 24 remodels across the chain’s market area. In addition to the Olney location, it includes a new store in Fairfax Circle, Va.
