Uncle Ray’s set to grow manufacturing capacity

Salazar

Detroit-based chip and snack food manufacturer Uncle Ray’s is planning to grow its capacity this year. The company is set to open a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Montgomery City, Mo.

Set to open in early summer, the facility will support the company’s ability to keep up with the demand of its flagship brands and bring capacity to help with its private label partnerships. The 180,000-sq.-ft. facility will join the existing Uncle Ray’s hometown plant.

Started in 1965 by Ray Jenkins, Uncle Ray’s product offerings include 3-oz. and 8-oz chip bags of potato chips. The company also sells pretzels, popcorn, cheese puffs, tortilla chips, kettle chips, onion rings and recently added pork rinds. The pork rinds, which were launched to meet growing demand among consumers on keto diets, are sold in four flavors — regular, BBQ, hot and salt and vinegar.
