Tyson may buy Foster Farms

2/7/2019

Tyson Foods, the world’s second-largest processor and marketer of beef, chicken and pork and a supplier of private-branded meat products, may be on the cusp of getting bigger. According to news outlet CNBC, Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson has been in talks about purchasing privately owned Foster Farms, a Livingston, Calif.-based poultry company for about $2 billion.

CNBC reported that the two sides are disagreeing over price. A potential deal could be several weeks away.

Tyson sells branded chicken, beef and pork under its own label as well as the Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm and Golden Island Jerky brands. Tyson acquired meat supplier Keystone Foods a few months ago.
