TreeHouse Foods in late-stage talks to buy Ralcorp

According to an Oct. 22 article by Reuters, Oak Brook, Ill.-based TreeHouse Foods Inc. is in late-stage talks with Omaha, Neb.-based ConAgra Foods Inc. to purchase Ralcorp, ConAgra’s private label unit. Earlier in the year, the sale of Ralcorp was estimated to be valued at $3.5 billion. Its estimated value has since dropped to between $2.5 and $2.7 billion. ConAgra originally bought Ralcorp in 2013 for $5.1 billion.
