Trader Joe’s leads in customer satisfaction, reports major survey

Trader Joe’s, which predominantly sells private brand products, tops the list of American supermarket chains based on shopper satisfaction, according to the most recent survey by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), which annually interviews approximately 70,000 consumers. Publix Super Markets came in second, while H-E-B, Wegmans and Aldi tied for third place. The highest ranked chains and their scores (on a scale of 0 to 100) are as follows:

  • Trader Joe’s, Monrovia, Calif. — 86
  • Publix Super Markets, Lakeland, Fla. — 84
  • Wegmans, Rochester, N.Y. — 83
  • H-E-B, San Antonio, Texas — 83
  • Aldi U.S., Batavia, Ill. — 83
  • Whole Foods Market, Austin, Texas — 81
  • The Kroger Co., Cincinnati — 79
  • ShopRite (Wakefern), Keasbey, N.J. — 79
  • Hy-Vee, West Des Moines, Iowa — 79
  • Target, Minneapolis — 78
  • Meijer, Grand Rapids, Mich. — 78
