We have a winner — well 11 winners. The 2020 European Private Label Awards winners have been announced, and the awards, organized by ESM European Supermarket Magazine, narrowed down its highest number of entries yet to 44 finalists and ultimately chose 11 winners — one per category — that stood out from the competition.

Retailers that won were REWE Group, Lidl, Dunnes Stores, SPAR, Coop Trading, Migros Ticaret and Salling Group, with Dunnes Stores, Lidl Denmark and SPAR Netherlands winning two awards apiece.

Lidl Denmark landed the top spot in Meat and Seafood with its Deluxe Tomahawk Steak and Dairy Products for its WH Blue cheese selection; Dunnes Stores was the winner in the Convenience Foods category for its Harissa Butternut Squash and Free-From Foods category for its Gluten-Free Grains Yogurts; and SPAR Netherlands was the winner of Beverages (Alcoholic) for its SPAR W.I.P.A. beer and Conectionery and Snacking for its Chip and Dip. REWE won the Ambient Grocery category for its RespEGGt egg product, Turkey’s Migros Ticaret won the Beverages (Non-Alcoholic) category with its M Life Bio Organic Juice Açaí Mix, Conrad was the Frozen Food winner with its Gelato line, Coop Trading topped the Non-Food: Household category with its Änglamark laundry detergent line, and Salling Group won top prize in the Non-Food Personal Care category for its Lovena Cotton Buds.

“Private label is increasingly being seen as a benchmark-setter in European retail, and the winners in this year’s European Private Label Awards are certainly not short on innovation,” said Stephen Wynne-Jones, editor of ESM European Supermarket Magazine. “ESM would like to heartily congratulate all the winners and finalists in this year’s competition.”
