TerrePURE Spirits renovates Kentucky bourbon distillery

11/19/2015

TerrePURE Spirits, a division of North Charleston, S.C.-based Terressentia Corp., said it is renovating a bourbon distillery in Kentucky and readying it for a May 2016 opening. The O.Z. Tyler Distillery, named for the co-inventor of the company’s patented TerrePURE technology, is located in Owensboro, Ky.

Terressentia Corp. produces premium spirits for retailers’ private brands and brand owners across the United States. Anticipating customer demand for its bourbon whiskey would potentially outstrip supply by 2017, the company said it purchased the former Charles Medley Distillery in 2014. The 25-acre distillery site could be producing a million cases of Kentucky bourbon for the company once it is fully operational.

“With renovations and storage operations underway now, we are pleased with the progress being made,” said Earl Hewlette, CEO, Terressentia. “We have been making great bourbon since 2007, but this new distillery will give us the opportunity to make great Kentucky bourbon for our current and future customers.”
