Target, designer Todd Snyder celebrate local pride with exclusive collections

7/21/2015

Target Corp., Minneapolis, said it wants to help guests celebrate their roots with Local Pride by Todd Snyder, a new collaboration featuring city-specific merchandise designed to celebrate hometown pride.

An award-winning American menswear designer in New York City and Iowa native, Snyder has experienced both small-town life and big-city living. And if there’s one thing he has learned, Target said, it’s that each place has its own story to tell.

Snyder's collections for Target capture those stories through the lens of design and curation — something he’s known for. Earlier in his career, Todd earned his stripes working for Polo Ralph Lauren and J. Crew. And this month he debuted the spring 2016 collection at men’s fashion week for his eponymous label — a sophisticated collection that captures the tenor of the island of Capri, Target said. For his Target line, Todd highlights locally relevant products in major cities throughout the United States; guests who walk into their hometown Target can experience the flavor of their local community.

According to Target's "A Bullseye View" blog, Local Pride by Todd Snyder will feature everything from t-shirts and baseball caps to pint glasses, phone cases and locally relevant products. The collection's first stop is Boston, with curated items that include Cape Cod potato chips, Beantown favorite marshmallow fluff, t-shirts featuring local baseball legend Carl "Yaz" Yastrzemski, t-shirts asking the classic "How Bout Them Apples" question, and more.

Target said it would celebrate the Boston kickoff at the Fenway CityTarget — its ninth CityTarget to date  and the first on the East Coast. Local Pride by Todd Snyder will be arriving in San Francisco and Chicago at the end of 2015, the retailer said, with more locations to come in 2016.
