Store perimeter holds appeal for future new product development

Retailer/wholesaler respondents to Store Brands' 2015 State of the Industry Research Study are looking to the store's perimeter for much of future private brand-related new product development. They ranked deli items highest in terms of categories of interest for future store brand product development. Fresh prepared foods/foodservice items, bakery items, refrigerated/frozen prepared foods and "niche" products also hold appeal. Coming in at the bottom of respondents' rankings are alcoholic beverages and over-the-counter medicines/preparations.
