As Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. looks to increase its store count nationwide by 10% each year, the Phoenix-based organic grocery chain released the locations of 10 stores opening in the next three months.
As Retail Leader previously reported, Sprouts plans to open 30 stores this year in its new smaller footprint of about 23,000 square feet. Sprouts also has a pipeline of more than 80 approved stores and nearly 60 executed leases, said Jack Sinclair, Sprouts’ CEO, during the grocer’s 2022 fourth-quarter earnings call.
Retail Leader already announced Sprouts coming stores in Rialto, Calif. and Haddon Township, N.J., on Sept. 1 and Sept. 8, respectively.
Additionally, stores set to open in September, October and November include:
- Tampa (Uptown neighborhood), Fla. — Sept.15
- Austin (Mueller neighborhood), Texas — Sept. 22
- Indian Well, Calif. — Oct. 13
- Port Charlotte, Fla. — Oct. 27
- Visalia, Calif. — Nov. 3
- Burtonsville, M.d. — Nov. 10
- Henderson, Nev. — Nov. 10
- Charlotte (Steele Creek), N.C. — Nov. 17
Earlier this year, the specialty grocer detailed plans to close about a dozen stores this year. The closing stores are about 30% larger than Sprouts’ current smaller prototype. The grocer also recently acquired its only two licensed stores, both located in California, meaning the retailer now owns all stores operating under the Sprouts Farmers Market name.
As highlighted in its annual Environmental, Social and Governance report, Sprouts also said it plans to build new stores within 250 miles of its distribution centers to reduce its transportation-related emissions, as part of its efforts to cut back Scope 3 emissions.
