Southeastern Grocers announces partnership with Feeding America

12/6/2016

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers — the parent company of BI-LO, Harveys, Winn-Dixie and Fresco y Más — announced that Feeding America, the country’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, is an official charity partner. In a new program that runs until Nov. 24, 2017, the retailer will donate 5 cents to Feeding America for every loaf of Southeastern Grocers brand sandwich bread purchased by customers.

“One in eight people struggle with hunger in America,” Ian McLeod, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said in a statement. “Many food-insecure people fall within our footprint, which is why we are committed to fighting hunger hand-in-hand with Feeding America.”

This is not the retailer’s first collaboration with Feeding America. Since 2009, Southeastern Grocers has donated nearly 150 million pounds of food to the charity, the company stated.
