The parent company of Shoppers Food & Pharmacy, United Natural Foods Inc., plans to sell the D.C.-Baltimore grocery chain, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Executives with United Natural Foods Inc., which purchased the chain’s previous parent company Supervalu for $2.9 billion last year, plan to sell the chain, according to financial filings from the Providence, R.I.-based company.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Steve Spinner, CEO of United Natural Foods, said during a March 5 earnings call that the company is “well down the path on selling Shoppers and I’m confident we’ll get that done in the coming months.”
